Information and Resources for the residents of Langley Grove Estates

The function of the Social Committee, *elected by the residents, is to provide social activities for the residents of Langley Grove. The Committee operates with a constitution. Once a year in January elections are held to replace any of the committee members that may resign. The Committee is actively working for the residents and will take into consideration all suggestions from residents for any activity. There usually is an evening activity held once a month, except in July & August.

Some activities are dance lessons, performances by outside groups, card games, BBQ’s, general dances and more. Once in awhile there will be a potluck dinner. The committee provides a Post Christmas dinner for everyone. The main focus is to provide a social evening for the many residents that are not able to have Christmas Dinner with family. We have a Little Reno night and a Christmas Bazaar that are fundraisers so we can continue to provide social activities ‘free of charge.’ Pancake breakfast for both Mother’s & Father’s day are always fun mornings. Fathers pay on Mother’s day and Mothers pay on Father’s Day a token amount to cover costs. The Committee will also arrange memorials for residents that have passed away. This is done only in conjunction with the family’s wishes. A newsletter is published each month to let the residents know of the upcoming events & many other tidbits of information.

It's still unclear if the Social Committe is in fact considered to be a "a park committee" under the terms of the "Manufactured Home Park Tenancy Regulation" or the "Manufactured Home Park Tenancy Act".

If so,
No business may be conducted at a meeting of a park committee unless the following members are present:

(a) the landlord or the individual nominated by the landlord; (The Park Manager)

(b) at least 2 elected members who are tenants

* Editors Note:
Actually, it appears that the Social Committee may in fact be elected by members of the Social Committee itself. ??
Any notice of elections, if advertised at all, are so weak that most residents do not even take notice of it.

The Social Committee serves many of the residents of Langley Grove Estates but it is not fully representative of the residents of Langley Grove Estates, nor should the Social Committee be considered as "The Community".
