The Langley Grove Estates Community website was created in 2005 as a free resource for the residents of Langley Grove Estates under the Community Powered Websites program offered by SmileyGenerator.us
After discussions with Nick Muller, the manager for Bayou Developments at the time, an arrangement was made where Bayou Developments would purchase and maintain a domain name for the community, and management pages would be hosted free of charge on our community website as a courtesy.
A few years later, Parkbridge Lifestyle Communities, Inc. purchased Langley Grove Estates and Bayou Developments (1996) LTD and the website remained somewhat unfinished and largely unchanged until August 2009.
At that time, we began to spend a great deal of time and effort communicating with Parkbridge and Langley Grove Estates management to coordinate a major upgrade of the site with every imaginable resource available to park residents. We spent several weeks creating new content and setting the site up with the agreed management pages, and a community resources page where residents could contribute stories and articles, place ads and announcements, etc.
As the site neared completion, we were informed by the park manager that "We own this website" and "no personal opinions are permitted".
As this was in clear violation of our negotiated agreement for creating and hosting this website, and did not comply with our Community Powered Websites program, and would have violated our own copyrights on images and content we had created, we informed them that that this was not acceptable and if they wanted a "Corporate" only website with no input from residents, they would have to pay for the content and all time spent on the redesign.
When we checked the site the next morning, the domain had been highjacked and pointed to a page at Parkbridge's own website.
No discussions, no apologies, no contact at all. *See Update*
We believe the residents of Langley Grove Estates have a right to speak and a right to discuss anything they like as long as it is not vulgar, racist, or offensive.
Since management disagrees and will not honor our agreement, this site has been moved to a new domain and is now fully available to those residents that it was intended to serve.
Please feel free to participate, post stories and articles, offer feedback, discuss any problems related to the park, or anything you like.
This website and the resources provided are here for Langley Grove Estates residents and will not be censored or controlled by park management!
